Jeppiaar Institute of Technology was established in 2011, to provide futuristic technical education with the perspective of innovative social and industrial application for the betterment of humanity.


Since the launch, Jeppiaar Institute of Technology propels relentlessly towards fulfilling its vision. Jeppiaar Institute of Technology is the first institution in India to establish a laboratory with the incorporation of ‘Innovative Cloud Computing Technology’. All the classrooms are CAI (Computer Aided Instruction) enabled with wall mount Multimedia LCD Projectors, to make full use of the modern teaching aids. Presently, the college offers five popular professional under-graduate engineering programs namely B.E. Computer Science and Engineering, B.E. Electronics and Communication Engineering, B.E. Electrical and Electronics Engineering, B.Tech Information Technology and B.E. Mechanical Engineering.


Computer Society of India (CSI), one of the professional societies in our college shares knowledge and exchange the ideas in the ever progressive world of technology. ASME, SAE and the Big-Data Research Center of the college support the career needs of the students. The IEEE students’ chapter and IEEE Women in engineering on the campus are vibrant in connecting to breakthrough technical information and put them in an open platform for regular updates. Students’ passion for robotics is commendable. National Cadet Corps (NCC), National Service Scheme (NSS) and Youth Red Cross (YRC) are also offered for the holistic development of the students.


Our college offers value-added courses like JAVA, PCB Design, Robotics and Embedded system interfacing with Arduino, Rapid prototyping – 3D printing, Drone, Machine learning, Android applications development, Internet of Things and Robotics to make the students technically and practically strong.


In the field of sports and games, the college ranks among the top ten in the state. The college organizes Jeppiaar Trophy, a national level basketball tournament every year in which all the potential basketball teams in the country take part. The standard of the tournament is obvious and it is recognized by Doordarshan with its live telecast.


About 75% of students of the 2011 batch have been placed in the reputed Multi-National Companies like Wipro, Infosys, IBM, Cognizant, InfoView, Mindtree, and Mphasis which are the premier recruiting partners of the institution. In the same way, in the following next two years, 82% of the students have been placed and the count is expected to increase in the years to come.


To make the students involved in industrial relationship and development, our college has signed MOU with leading international and National companies like COMSTAR, Infosys Campus Connect, JIT Global Info System Pvt. Ltd. and for students higher education in abroad, the institution has signed MOU with Life Abroad Consulting Service (p) Ltd, Singapore to link more than 40 universities in abroad. Every year, the academic toppers will get the fully funded scholarship for International Immersion Programme.


Another creative embodiment is the ‘Design Thinking Club’ which nurtures the culture of design thinking in all aspects of life focussing on preparing the design mind in association with the School of Design Thinking, Intellect.


Keeping in view the need for maintaining the momentum of quality, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) is functioning in the Institution. The Goals of IQAC –

  • To develop a quality system for conscious, consistent and catalytic programmed action to improve the academic and administrative performance of the college.
  • To promote measures for institutional functioning towards quality enhancement through internationalization of quality culture and institutionalization of best practices.

IQAC Objectives


To determine quality excellence in the academic process and pre-accreditation exercise for quality assurance by Internal Quality Assurance Cell was established in the year 2019.  IQAC monitors the progress in teaching – learning and aims to achieve the Vision and Mission of the College.


  • IQAC works for consistent measurement of quality, improvement and constant growth in the overall performance of the institution.
  • To provide and equip quality to students and faculty through constant motivation.


  • Regular Auditing for each department along with ISO Cell and other regularity bodies.
  • Arrange guest lectures on topics for students to enhance knowledge beyond the syllabus to bridge the gap between prescribed syllabuses by the University.
  • To produce academic excellence for students, unit wise test and internal tests are conducted followed with remedial classes for the slow learners.
  • Consistent improvement on the overall development of the institution with the help of stake holder’s feedback.
  • To create awareness for both staff and students with recent trends in technology Seminar, Conference, Workshop, Internship, FDP, Induction Program, symposium and online course are being regularly conducted.
  • Gaining Industrial trends by directing students through industrial visits, In-plant trainings and relevant research projects.
  • Creating ambience for both students and staff for publishing research articles in reputed journals with quality plagiarism checking and procuring funds from reputed research organizations.
  • Conducting technical club activities to enrich students with wide knowledge in core domains.

The convener announced the formal establishment of IQAC on June 22, 2019 and welcomed all the members to its board. The frequency of the meetings would be once in six months and on issue based, if necessary.


Status of Quality Initiatives:

  • Requested the entire Department to start the SAR preparation for NBA Accreditation.
  • Requested the entire Department to start the SSR preparation for NAAC Accreditation.
  • Requested the coordinators of various cell and committee members to be more active and receptive in the academic year 2019 – 2020. (Alumni Cell, Higher Studies Cell, Entrepreneur Development Cell, Website Committee, News Letter & Maganize Committee, Internal Assessment Cell, E- Learning Cell, Intellectual Property Cell, Induction Program & Training Cell)
  • Requested all the HOD’s to motivate the staff members for potential outcome towards funded project, MOU’s and Center of Excellence to improve the quality of the students.
  • ISO MR (Management Representative) briefed about the status of the closure of the findings of the ISO external Audit by DNV- GL on 29.01.2019. Internal audit should be effectively executed and imitative must be taken to rectify past errors at regular intervals.
  • The placements by major recruiters have been completed for the year 2018 – 2019 with internship or direct recruitment model. Upcoming batches are trained based on the company requirements.
  • S & H – The first year students are oriented towards engineering discipline through various workshop and activities.
  • Requested the professional and Personality development coordinators to be more active and progressive towards the outlook development of every individual.

Discussion on New Initiatives:

Convener stated that based on feedback from students and discussions during review meetings, it is proposed to take up the following:

  • Faculty members can be trained in Aptitude & programming skills through train the trainer model which In turn will help students to excel in Analytical & programming skills
  • Company specific training will be conducted by internal and external trainers before the company visit.
  • Implementation of 3 I Cell (Industry Institute Interaction) to promote closer interaction between the academic field and the current professional field. The cell will act as the bridge between the industry, the real world and the institute.
  • Various Technical and Non-Technical Club Activities to be initiated to enrich the knowledge of the students.
  • Separate counseling hour is implemented for Mentoring students with reference to build positive growth, individual development and initiative to industrial expectations.
  • To create better perspective outcomes in teaching learning process, effective feedback are initiated through college campus management system login.

Suggestion towards Improvement of Placement Activities to have a Better Conversion Ratio:

  • Carrier options form needs to be provided to the students during their third semester onwards, which was earlier processed during the 5th Based on which segregation needs to be done and students need to be mapped in their respective tracks through awareness programs, trainings, and alumni contacts.

  • Personality Development is the relatively enduring pattern of the thoughts, feelings, and behavior’s that distinguish individuals from one another. Such kinds of programs will enrich the student’s community in a better perspective.
  • Average Salary needs to be calculated stating the minimum salary and the maximum salary.
  • Mock Interviews can be planned with the help of our Alumni’s either through skype or as an invite to our college premises.
  • British English Course need to be made mandatory for all the students that in turns helps in their communication aspects.
  • Encourage the Students to showcase their skills through Coding Platforms.

Suggestion towards Academic:

  • Students Past and present post counseling needs to be portrayed to the Principal desk on monthly basis in terms of a presentation.
  • Identify the tough subjects for which activity based learning can be done.
  • Questions that were posted during the Internal Examinations needs to mapped with the University Question Paper in terms of repetition & application
  • You tube channels – Outcome needs to be monitored (Likes & Shares)
  • Prescribed Text books to be followed suggested by Anna University to improve their writing skills.
  • Usage of Books, Journals, e – learning’s, Magazines in the library needs to be a measurable quantity.

  • Joint publication with industrial persons, mainly with companies where MOU’s are signed.
  • Research & Consultancy

  • Focus on Consultancy based projects based on needs of the Industries.

Suggestion towards External Participation:

  • AICTE – CII survey of industry
  • Lined technology institutes
  • Academic Excellence needs to be portrayed.
  • NPTEL for students and faculties’ to be displayed based on the registration count, certified (elite, gold & completed)
  • EDC Active participation Technology business incubator (TBI).
  • Corporate competition cell (CCC) to be inaugurated under which all national level hunts will be posted and in turn they will be trained.

  • Minutes of meeting must be posted in website post NAAC accreditation.
  • Member from the Local Society needs to be a part of the IQAC Cell.

Action Plan: 

  • The members of IQAC agreed for the above proposed new initiatives of which some needs to be improved and some initiatives needs to be implemented. Further discussion will be done regarding the implementation part and the same will be reviewed in the next IQAC meeting.
  • Convener tentatively scheduled the Next IQAC meeting in the month of Dec 2019.
  • Convener thanked and appreciated all the members of the IQAC Committee for their valuable suggestions for a sustained growth of the institution.

Outcomes :

This center has motivated the students from different branches of study to participate and win laurels in AICTE hackathons, the hackathons organized by the various industries and the open innovation competitions hosted by the industries. Such participations had immensely improved the problem solving skills, enhanced the learning outcome and have fetched internship opportunities in the industries. Such participations have also developed the startup eco system in the campus, thereby aiding the graduates becoming job creators. The Entrepreneurship Development Cell funded by AICTE, work in close association with the innovation cell and boosting up the startup culture.
