About the Department

The Department of Humanities & Science (H&S) is established to support the undergraduate Programs of our institution. The department is well equipped with modern experimental setups and ample space for fledgling student’s fraternity to achieve high standard of understanding and learning. The department has published many research papers in reputed international and national level science journal. The curriculum is focus on the recent advancements and developments in the field of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English and their demand in applications. The Department has the state–of-the-art facilities for various laboratories, a well-equipped seminar hall, Wi-Fi enabled class rooms to support e-learning with Projectors and a department Library. The Department is currently in the process of supporting core departments for NBA and NAAC approval process.

The Department of Humanities offers Communicative English in the I Semester and Technical English in the II Semester for the I year B.E./ B.Tech. Students . It also offers Communication Skills, Professional English, Employability Skills and Soft Skills Development courses for the II year and III year B.E. / B.Tech. Students to ameliorate their placement prospects. It also offers Special Coaching classes for the Vernacular Medium Students and Remedial Classes for Arrear Students, and Communication Skills for II Year B.E. / B.Tech. lateral entry students after college hours. A modern language laboratory enables the final year students to perform well in GRE, TOEFL, GMAT and other competitive examinations. This multimedia lab installed with necessary software to improve their LWRS (Learning, Writing, Reading, Speaking) skills, also helps them to hone their communication skills. The department prepares students to excel in various competitions (both co-curricular and extracurricular) conducted by other institutions.

The Department of Mathematics is the mother of scientific and engineering courses. Therefore special attention is paid for the development of basic mathematics skills required for technical curriculum. The teachers spot mathematical talents among the students and encourage them to take part in seminars, to develop problem solving skills and complete in various intercollegiate mathematical competitions.

The Department of Physics is established to support the undergraduate Programs of our institution. The department is well equipped with modern experimental setups such as Laser, Fibre optics, general physics and thermal physics in par with the university curriculum and provide ample space for young student’s fraternity to achieve high standard of understanding and learning. The department is embellished with 3 faculties out of them 2 are doctorates. As a result, many research papers are published in reputed international and national level science journal from our department. Apart from that our faculties also supports the UG students in their projects, encouraging them in writing articles to publish in research journals and to present them in national and international level conferences. On the theoretical side, the curriculum is focus on the recent advancements and developments in the applied physics, Nano Technology, optical materials, Material Science and their demand in applications.

The Department of chemistry is recognized to support the undergraduate Programs of our institution. The Chemistry department has a well-equipped, more spacious and good ventilated laboratory. The department is embellished with 3 faculties out of them 2 are doctorates. As a result, many books and research papers are published in reputed international and national level science journal from our department.
Apart from that our faculties also supports the UG students in their projects, encouraging them in writing articles to publish in research journals and to present them in national and international level conferences. On the theoretical side, the curriculum imparts basic chemistry and knowledge in various fields in Water Technology, Electro chemistry & Corrosion, Chemical kinetics, Surface chemistry, Phase Rule & Alloys, Fuel & combustion and Environmental Studies.

• B.E., (Computer Science and Engineering) – Intake of 60 Students.
• B.Tech (Information Technology) – Intake of 60 Students.
• B.E., (Electronics and Communication Engineering) – Intake of 120 Students.
• B.E., (Electrical and Electronics Engineering) – Intake of 60 Students.
• B.E., (Mechanical Engineering) – Intake of 120 Students.

Teaching and Learning Enhancement:

• As a part of our regular e-Learning Initiative that aims at effective use of current technology to enhance the teaching-learning process and to make it learner driven the department maintains individual course pages which hosts the Syllabus, Lesson Plan, Lecture Notes and other reading materials to conduct Value added courses like Design Thinking club which enable the students to propose human – centered approach to solving complex problems within all aspects of life.

• Periodic guest lectures, workshops are organized for the benefit of students to supplement their curriculum. This facilitates our students to enrich their knowledge and to update the current industry trends.

Research Activities:

• We are proud to have research supervisor-ship obtained from Anna University, Chennai. Presently part time research scholars are doing M.Phil programmes under their guidance.

• Presently five of our faculties are pursuing Doctorates in their specific field of interest.

• Focussing on Research, Faculties are doing research work to publish papers in Web of science and Scopus.

Language Laboratory

The Language Laboratory is established to enhance the overall communication skills of the students. The lab comprises of 60 systems with internet facility and a modern language lab software which helps the students to hone their LSRW skills. It also equips the students to do extremely well in the placement arena, by acquiring interview skills and professional competence.

• Introduces the students a range of self-instructional, learner-friendly modules in language learning
• Familiarizes Computer Aided Language Learning to the students, thus providing them with the required facility to face computer-based competitive exams such GRE, TOEFL, GMAT etc.
• Helps to maintain good linguistic competence amidst students through accuracy in grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary.
• Enables them to use language effectively to face interviews, group discussions and public speaking.
• Enhances the job skills of the students in terms of resume preparation, format-making and technical presentations.

Physics Laboratory

The Physics Laboratory has spacious, well equipped and fully furnished for conducting physics practical experiments which fulfill the academic needs of the undergraduate students as per Anna University syllabus.

Chemistry Laboratory

The Department has independent laboratory fully equipped with instruments and consumables, and advanced equipments for teaching and research activities. Our Laboratory serves as space to gain greater insight into the knowledge of science and true implications of its broad working principles through hands on experience. Meticulous care is taken to strengthen the knowledge on basics of physics henceforth that drives them to a problem solving approach.

It is well equipped with modern experimental setups such as Flame photometer, Spectrometer, Potentiometer, pH meter and conductivity meter in par with the university curriculum and provide ample space for fledgling student’s community to achieve high standard of understanding and learning.

Further more, It also able to support to carry out the UG Student Projects.

For Project supports, the lab is equipped with
• Magnetic Stirrers
• Hot air ovens
• Digital Balance
• Hot Plates and
• Thermal controlled mantel.

Seminar Hall

To conduct special seminars covering latest developments and trends in the field of Information Technology, a fully equipped Seminar Hall with seating capacity of 90 is attached with the department.
The equipments cover one Overhead Projector, one LCD projector.

Class Rooms

Each class room is furnished with a Overhead Projector, one LCD projector, and a dedicated Laptop to support the e-Learning process. The class rooms are Wi-Fi enabled class rooms to support the e-Learning Initiative.

  To plan the development of faculty members through Faculty Development Programs (FDP) in the academic, new technology and teaching skills related areas.

  To mentor and support the targeted number of faculty members to register and a targeted number of faculty members to complete Ph.D in the given academic year.
